I looked over the IKEA offerings this morning. Everything looks so European and stylish, right?

But I own some of the items and what I know is how cheap and disposable they are.

I have IKEA towels that last through three washings before shredding. My son has a rather pricey IKEA couch. My mother, (rest in peace) who always bought furniture to last a lifetime, would be shocked at how deteriorated his 5-year-old couch has become. The fabric looked nice for a year only.

Now I like buying occasional household items at IKEA. It's like a Goodwill of cheap new things and kinda fun.

But kitchen cabinets?!  A kitchen project means a large investment, not just cabinets but labor alone will often set a homeowner back $5,000-$15,000.

So why make such a large investment of toy cabinetry made cheaply overseas (NOT in Sweden!). Have you looked closely at how these cabinets are built? Cheap. Fiberboard.

We love offering a true alternative. American-made WOOD cabinets. Yet our prices are in the same price range. That's right.

Look closely. Invest wisely in your home. Let a professional designer help you create a custom kitchen, avoid store employee designs. Choose wood over fiberboard if you want things to last.

Don't buy cheap. Buy American. You will be glad.

Susan
